This is like a giant orchestra giving a concert with only a single violin. Reflecting grandeur requires bold steps. For years the industry worked with spindle hinges screwed into the side jamb. But these standard fittings, by the laws of physics, give out beyond a certain weight and width. The most mesmerizing part is this: that half-ton giant of armor can be opened silently with the little finger of even a small child, thanks to the hydraulic bearing system inside it.
