Monoblock Lock or Central Lock? Which One Should You Choose?

End the Confusion in Lock Selection

You have decided to buy a steel door and you are examining the models. The sales consultant asked you: "Would you like a monoblock lock or a central lock?" If you do not have technical knowledge, it is very normal to be indecisive in the face of this question. Both systems are secure, but their working principles and security levels are different from each other. We need to compare these two systems so that you can make the right choice.

Monoblock Lock System: Standard and Secure

The monoblock system is a proven mechanism used in most standard steel doors today. In this system, there are 3 or 4 thick steel bolts coming out of a single body in the lock part of the door. When you turn the key, these bolts enter the frame. Usually, there are two monoblock locks on the door (one main lock at the bottom, one safety lock at the top).

Monoblock systems are reasonable products with low probability of malfunction, easy maintenance, and price/performance. It provides sufficient security for a standard apartment flat.

Central Lock System: Maximum Security

The central lock system takes security to the next level. It has a single key slot. As soon as you turn the key, lock bolts come out not only from the lock level of the door but also from the bottom, top, and sides simultaneously. The door is locked to the frame from a total of 14 different points.

The biggest advantage of this system is its resistance to prying the door from the corners. Even if the thief tries to insert a crowbar under the door and bend it, the lock bolt at the bottom does not allow this. Your door almost integrates with the frame. If your budget is suitable and you say "I recognize no limits in security", the central lock system should be the sole choice for you.
