Backbone of the Door: Frame Sheet
When you look at a steel door for the first time, usually the wood, PVC, or decorative coating details on it catch your eye. However, the real strength and security of a door is not in its external appearance; it is hidden in its metal skeleton concealed under those stylish surfaces, that is, in the frame sheet structure. This structure is almost the backbone of the door and carries all the load.
Unfortunately, there are manufacturers in the market using sheet thickness below standards to reduce costs. This situation, which is not aesthetically noticeable from the outside, causes serious results in a real security test. Because the strength of the door is as much as the strength of its weakest point.
In the majority of burglary attempts, the door frame is targeted rather than the door sash. Attempts are made to stretch the frame with crowbars or similar tools. If the sheet used is not thick and reinforced enough, the frame bends almost like a cheese tin. In this case, even the highest quality lock system loses its function and a serious security vulnerability (weakness) emerges.
The only way to eliminate this risk is to use correct sheet thickness and correct sheet type. In our models, reinforced steel sheet between 1.2 mm and 2.0 mm is preferred, varying according to the area of use and door type. In this way, the door frame shows maximum resistance against impacts, forcing, and long years of use.
Why Galvanized Steel?
The fact that the sheets we use are galvanized steel is a vital detail that should not be ignored. Raw iron rusts over time when it comes into contact with moisture and air, loses its strength, and starts to rot. This situation seriously shortens both the security and life of the door.
The galvanizing process ensures that the surface of the steel is protected with a special coating. Thanks to this coating, the sheet gains high resistance against rusting. Especially in regions with high humidity, the use of galvanized steel is not a choice, but a necessity. In this way, your door preserves its form, robustness, and security even after years.
When buying a steel door, definitely ask about the sheet thickness and sheet type. This detail is one of the minimum measures you need to take for your safety. It should not be forgotten that; if the frame is weak, no matter how strong the lock is, it cannot fulfill its real duty. A sturdy frame is the foundation of real security.
