The Interior Designer's Flawless Canvas: The Elegance of Lacquer-Painted Steel Doors in Luxury Residential Projects

Transforming a Security Shield into a Piece of Aesthetic Furniture

One of the greatest headaches an interior designer faces when designing a luxury residential project is achieving harmony between the entrance door and the furniture inside the space. While the living room wall panels, the hallway console, the coat closet, and the room doors are all in carefully selected matte anthracite or silky white lacquer tones, an entrance door that remains a coarse wood-textured or standard industrially painted slab of steel can demolish all that architectural harmony in a single stroke. The steel door, which must be an impregnable fortress to the outside, is obliged to behave almost like an elegant piece of furniture on the face turned inward (into the apartment). At Işıldak Çelik Kapı, we brought our Lacquer-Painted Series collection to life to solve this aesthetic crisis for interior designers and to offer them a flawless canvas they can work on freely.

The Relentless Craftsmanship Behind the Smoothness

Lacquer paint is nothing like the standard spray paints on the market. It does not conceal flaws; on the contrary, it magnifies the slightest speck of dust or sanding error like a microscope. The secret to achieving a smooth, glass-like surface lies not in the paint itself, but in that relentless and lengthy manual labor of preparing the substrate. After our raw, high-density MDF panels come off the CNC benches, they are taken into the primer booths. The first coat of primer is applied, dried, and sanded entirely by hand by our craftsmen. This process is repeated at least six times until the pores of the material are completely saturated. Our paint booths are negative-pressure, dust-free environments, just like operating rooms. The final coat of polyurethane-based lacquer paint gives the surface a silky and deep touch that reflects light with perfect uniformity.

Freedom at the Limits of the RAL Color Chart

By the very nature of architecture, the color code of every project is unique. The architect wants the RAL 7016 Anthracite Gray or RAL 9010 Pure White tone used on the hallway wall to remain exactly the same, without a millimetric deviation, on the inner surface of the entrance door. Our lacquer series gives us the freedom to apply any of the thousands of colors on the RAL chart to the door. Thanks to our dual-color technology, we can produce the door's face turned toward the building's stairwell (the outside) in a wood texture or dark color in accordance with the building management's rules, while painting the face turned toward the interior of the home in a different color that matches the indoor wallpaper or the furniture's lacquer colors exactly.

Asymmetric CNC Cuts and Flush-to-Wall Frames

The silky flatness of the lacquered surface turns into a true work of art when adorned with deep CNC patterns engraved upon it, or with slender stainless steel/gold-leaf moldings. Furthermore, with our concealed aluminum frame systems that hide the door's casing (the trim) and allow the leaf to close perfectly level with the wall (flush door), the lacquered door appears as a natural extension of the wall. The only way to transform a steel carcass weighing tons into a piece of luxury furniture, without disrupting that soft and elegant harmony of the interior, runs through the dust-free lacquer booths of Işıldak Çelik Kapı.
