1. Initial Preparation for Accurate Measurement
The most critical stage before ordering a door is taking measurements. You should take measurements from the wall opening (rough opening). For this, have ready: a tape measure (7 m+), pencil, paper, and a spirit level. If you have an existing door, measure the wall opening, not the door itself.
2. Measurement Steps
Width and Height
Measure the width and height from the narrowest point of the wall opening. For width, take measurements at three points: top, middle, and bottom; for height, take measurements at three points: left, center, and right. Use the smallest value as reference.
Wall Thickness
Measure wall thickness at at least three points and take the average. Standard frame depth is usually 15 cm, but if your wall thickness differs, a custom frame may be required.
Wall Surface and Flatness Check
Use a spirit level to check if the wall is straight. If the wall is sloped, note this in the order comments.
Take measurements with millimeter precision. A 1 cm error can cause problems during installation.
3. Filling Out the Measurement Form and Approval
Determine whether standard or custom measurements are needed based on your region (Central Anatolia, Marmara, Aegean, etc.). Fill out the following information completely:
- Width-narrowest (mm)
- Height-narrowest (mm)
- Wall thickness (mm)
- Opening direction (inward/outward, right/left)
- Wall material (concrete, brick, aerated concrete)
After filling out the form, double-check it and submit it to your Işıldak Steel Door customer representative.
4. Order Stages
Quote and Approval
A custom quote is prepared based on your measurements. The quote includes the door model, accessories, color, and estimated delivery date. Upon your approval, the order is placed into production.
Production Time
For standard measurements, production time is 7-10 business days; for custom measurements, it is 12-15 business days. This time may be longer during peak periods.
Pre-Installation Preparation
Before the installation team arrives, ensure the door opening is clean and unobstructed. If electrical connections are needed (e.g., for automatic locking), have them ready.
5. Delivery and Installation
After your door is installed, operational tests are performed. The lock mechanism, hinge adjustments, threshold, and weatherstripping are checked. After installation, you are informed about the use and maintenance of the door.
6. Common Mistakes and Solutions
The most common mistakes include: using the wrong reference point for measurements, overlooking wall thickness, and confusing the opening direction. To avoid these mistakes, remember this rule when measuring: Take each measurement at least three times, use the narrowest point of the wall, and when determining the direction, imagine where the door will be when opened.
